How Can Swelling And Pain In The Ear Due To A Cyst Be Treated?

I went to the doctor at a health clinic this morning due to swelling of my ear and ear pain. My ear drum is opaque and my ear canal has the opening size of a stick pin. I have a cyst inside my ear causing all the swelling. They gave me antibiotic drops but I feel like the medicine is not getting in my ear canal due to swelling. It is just pooling and then when I finally tilt my head up it just runs out. Should I go to my family doctor on Monday or an ear nose and throat specialist. My ear is very swollen and I cannot hear out of it

Hi,

At this point when drops are not working you may need to use oral antibiotics.

Also, you can use antinflamatory drugs such Advil for pain and inflammation.

You may also need oral corticosteroids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
