How Can Sun Burn And Tanning Be Prevented?

If I apply olive oil to wet skin then towel dry off in the morning and then put an SPF 50+ will the olive oil counter effect the sun protection? I did this in Mexico and still burnt very badly, I don t know if the sun protection was defective or if the olive oil was a factor. I applied SPF on an hourly basis. Thank you!

Hello,

If it has been sunburnt then none of the SPF creams will help you. First, you need to get de-tanned in order to remove the sunburn. After getting peeled up with any dermatologist or de-tanned by any parlor you can use both your olive oil and SPF. Usually, olive oil doesn't decrease the SPF quality but you need to care yourself and should not go to the sun at all in the peak times like 12 pm or 2 pm most of the UV rays will be falling and damage your skin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
