How Can Shortness Of Breath Be Treated In The Elderly Who Has Memory Problems?

Hi. my mother who is 75, has been having memory problems lately, recently she is refusing to take certain medications that she d take without question. She is stating that she is having problems breathing but she is talking and not out of breath or short of breath. we think that we should have her seen by a geriatric doctor

Thank you for the question,

Your mother might be suffering from early symptoms of dementia as evidenced by the memory loss. As regards the other symptoms (breathing) could she have a bit of depression (feeling sad, weepy)? Yes a review by a geriatric doctor is the right choice.

Kind Regards
