How Can Severe Toothache Be Treated?

I have a terrible toothache (?). Went to the dentist first thing this morning and she didn t really see anything wrong with my tooth. She thinks i have a nasty sinus condition that is purring pressure on the tooth. She prescribed an antibiotic z pack i think it s called. So i just started that today. My problem is I m in worse pain now by far than i was this am. I have a few cyclebenzaprine tablets left over from a previous script, My thoughts were that it might ease the pain and help me sleep. Am i on the right track? How does it react with ibuprofen which i ve taken a bunch of today?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe tooth ache which seems to be due to dental abscess which is due to presence of infection. Infection has reached pulp and it can leads to bacteremia and septicemia as it can spread to tissue spaces. It could be due to minor crack in tooth.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit dentist/ oral and maxillofacial surgeon once and get it examined completely and start treatment accordingly. You should go for IOPA i.e X-ray of that tooth to check if that could be saved, otherwise take proper course of antibiotics and go for extraction. Maintain complete hygiene and avoid sharp stick food. You should take Tramadol which is stronger than Ibuprofen along with Azithromycin. Donot worry abiut Ibuprofen which you have taken today. Drink plenty of water after every meal and brush and floss regularly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
