How Can Severe Spasms In The Neck And Shoulders Be Treated?

I was told I have severe whiplash from a car accident. I was rearended May 5th. I am having severe spasms in my upper neck for head shoulders front neck muscles, face nose and head, numb lips. Now I m starting to have spasms and cramps at the bottom of my tailbone to buttocks and both legs and feet. Is this to be expected? How long for it to go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Neck spasms are involuntary contractions of the muscles in your neck. They can be caused due to bad posture, stress, etc. I suggest you to use anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen. I also suggest noninflammatory creams for local relief. Warm compresses can also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
