How Can Severe Pain In The Knees Be Treated?

Hi 3 weeks ago I pulled a table into my knee and it felt like I hit a nerve severe pain after for one week and it started to feel better, then one day I tried to run to get across the highway and I felt A pull behind my knee And a sharp pain and I almost went down.So I ended up at a clinic I was told no need to do an x-ray because if the knee was fractured or broken I would not be able to.walk or stand,I then said alright your the professional.A was sent home with a paper on treatments for sprains and ibuprofen, now I am in pain and my knee hurts in the back and my leg gets stuff and it hurts at nighttime and also I is painful going.up.and down stairs. My question.should.I go to the hospital instead of returning to the clinic?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, you need to visit the orthopedician. Better take an MRI of the knee and check for ligament tear. If present, arthroscopy can be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anusuya Ramesh
