How Can Severe Pain In The Feet Be Treated?

I had foot surgery on my right foot about 4 years ago . Worked in an industrial environment in a papermill having to wear steel-toe shoes for over forty years .Ive had four surgeries on my right foot to try & correct the problem starting in 2012 . I still hurt bad in my right foot & now my left foot is almost unbearable to walk on at times . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Wearing the shoes with steel toes can surely cause a pain but will be in the forefront. If the pain is in the soles this condition may be plantar fasciitis. And thence you may try the following:
- Change over to normal shoes which shape up your feet properly, needs correction.
- Warm saltwater fomentation helps a lot.
- Oral anti-inflammatory and steroids help to reduce the pain and swelling.

Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon or a Podiatrist for proper evaluation, examination further investigations to get a proper diagnosis and thus a plan for proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
