How Can Severe Osteoarthritis Be Treated?

What is a patient supposed to do when, because of an opioid addiction epidemic, she can t get the pain killers she needs. I have severe osteo-arthritis, fibromyalgia, as well as other disabling problems. I can t keep taking 4 Advil every time the pain goes past level 10. I am not addicted to Vicodin but it s the only thing that really helps.

Hi,

Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is important trying other possible treatment options which can help against chronic pain. In this regard, I would recommend trying Duloxetine, Pregabaline, or Amitriptyline.

You should know that Vicodin can lead to addiction and tolerance. So, you will not get the same effects after some time, if you continue to take it regularly. You should discuss with your doctor on the above treatment options.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
