How Can Severe Anxiety In A Teenager Be Treated?
I have a son, 14 years old with HFA. He has always been very anxious because of his condition. HOwever, now that he is a teenager, anxiety has gone to the roof. His doctor ordered Zoloft (up to 100mg), but my son s anxiety got worst and started talking about hurting himself and very scared (like panick attack). So, doctor added ritalin. My son became even worst. He ended up in the E.R and from there to a Mental Hospital. We only left him there one night. Can you suggest another med for anxiety without so many side effects?

As per my clinical experience, the issue needs counselling sessions with behavior therapy at expert psychiatrist. Only medicines are not going to cure the child. Extensive home support is mandatory with multiple tasks in accordance with the psychologist.
