How Can Severe Ankle Sprain Be Treated?

I recently refractured the 5th metatarsal after spraining my ankle. I was put in a cast about 21/2 weeks ago but recently had a small incident. I lost my balance and put all my weight on the foot. It s been hurting ever since. Is it possible that it fractured or spread more? If so when would a dr consider surgery

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Severe pain and swelling is due to fracture. Kindly do X-ray ankle joint after orthopedics consultation. You may require strapping or plastering. You can take tablet Aceclofenac for pain after consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale,
