Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What kind of exercise can I do to relieve sciatic pain. I ve had it for over 3 years, almost daily. I have deteriorating spine, stenosis, and two more things I cannot remember. I was 5 5 and I am now 5 3/4 . I am overweight by 6 to 10 lbs. My weight fluctuates weekly. I hurt all the time.
The first thing you can do to help is loose any excess weight you have. The second thing you can do to help with sciatic nerve pain is to increase your core strength. Exercises such as sit-ups, back lifts, and leg lifts may help increase your core strength,
If you think of your inner core as cylindrical structure, increasing the strength in the paraspinal and abdominal muscles will help take pressure off the back.
I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
