Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My adult daughter has had inoperative brain cancer 6 years and numerous health problems. We need some simple information for relatives and CNA on what to do and not to do for seizures, heart attack, stroke any other possible complications. When should she go to the doctor and or emergency room? Thanks for your assistance.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
She should be on drugs for seizures life long. The drug can be any one from a large list of available drugs for seizures, which is better tolerated and control seizures, so she can be on any one like we generally give Valproic acid and dose is increased if needed, if not we can add another drug or change but our aim would be to control seizures which ever drug suites her. Her other problems which you didn't mention should be managed as best assessed by the concerned doctor, keeping in mind her health condition. Other possible complication like vomiting should also be addressed. she should be given good care and support as well. Any time you feel she is acutely unwil like if fits or unconsciousness, then you must contact emergency.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
