How can psoriasis be treated?

my son is 25 and has been suffering with severe pseriosis for about 5 years...its so bad now its on the palms of his hands and his knuckles...he just started a job 2 days ago and hes constantly working with his hands...his knuckles are so bad they re cracking...is there anything O.T.C. that he can use to ease this up
