How Can Primary Biliary Cholangitis And Chronic Itching Be Treated?
I have pbc with chronic itching. I was taking 10,000 units of vitamin A. My Specialist was suppose to give me a toxisty test to see if I could handle higher doses but since I don`t have Insurance anymore, he won`t help me. Since I have more itching. I found a Website with Vegatables and Vitamin A Units but can`t find it now. I can`t eat hard carrots cause I have few teeth.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Primary biliary cholangitis can cause obstructive jaundice which leads to accumulation of bilirubin and thus cause itching. You can take antihistamines like atarax for itching. Basic pathology has to be corrected for permanent cure. Vitamins does not offer major relief. Consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
