Hello,

Severe eye pressure means you have glaucoma it can be measured and gonioscopy, and slit lamp examination can be done to examine angle type of angle closure is to be examined. It can be acute congestive or open-angle glaucoma dark room test and water drinking test can be done the medicine you have mentioned can cause addiction if possible can be avoided. For all other problem symptomatic treatment can be recommended field tracing and fundus examination preferably indirect ophthalmoscope done regarding the requirement of cataract surgery view of the eye doctor can be taken.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Ophthalmologist Dr. Kartik Panikkar's  Response
Hello,

High eye pressure is indicative of ocular hypertension or glaucoma depending on if there is any accompanying nerve damage. The management decided based on the level of intraocular pressure, the anterior chamber depth, presence of inflammation, degree of cataract and extent of the visual compromise. The basic management is using eyedrops, but considering your COPD, the beta blocker class of drugs should be avoided.

Any other class of antiglaucoma medication should show good effect. Also, the decision of whether a laser procedure or surgery will be required in your case will be decided by your eye specialist based on the configuration of your eye. Also, the presence of sleep apnea necessitates a sleep study, as it is a recognized risk factor for normal tension glaucoma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
