How Can Pressure And Tinnitus In The Left Ear Be Treated?

I just went to a regular doctor. I have lost almost all my hearing in my left ear since around 3 days ago. the doctor said there was no wax built up. said to take Flonase for a month because my sinuses must be swollen enough to clog my ear from allergies. My sinuses are not swollen, my throat is fine, ok with my eyes. No pain, just pressure and constant hissing noise. I work with the public and cant wait a month, plus I dont agree with this doctor. Should I see a specialist nose, throat, ear doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your query, you have symptoms of pressure and tinnitus in the left ear which seems to be due to a middle ear infection and Eustachian tube blockage and it could be due to circulatory system disorder such as high blood pressure.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you consult ENT specialist once for proper examination and to find out the exact cause. The doctor may order certain tests like an audiometry test, blood tests, rushing test, high and low pitched test and can start treatment as per diagnosis.

Avoid excessive use of mobile from the left side. Till then maintain complete hygiene and avoid inserting anything sharp in the ear canal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
