Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a year now, only over the last 4 months my periods have been regular. I had been on birth control for awhile. Over the last 4 months my period has been at the minimum 5-9days long. I have been tracking my periods and according to my tracking has always been on time. But over the last 2 months my period has been 1-2days late and only lasting 2 days. I don t want to get my hopes up and take a test but is there a way I could be pregnant?
Some women do have periods during pregnancy, and they tend to be very light. Since these periods are atypical for you, go ahead and take a home pregnancy test and see.
A period that is 9 days long can sometimes mean an anovulatory cycle (not ovulating in that month). If you are not pregnant now, and it has been a year (usually ovulatory periods return within 3 months of going off of hormonal contraceptives), then I recommend you go in to see your doctor for evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
