How Can Pitting Edema In The Ankles Be Treated?

on day 1 of starting levothyroxine my mother 87 y/o mother developed minimally pitting ankle edema w/o prior hx of this. some crackles at lung bases. no hx of chf. was d/c'd from valsartan/hctz a few weeks ago bc of low systolic pressure. not sure whether this is rxn to synthroid, d/c of valsartan/hctz, both?

-Table salt and processed foods with a lot of sodium can make your swelling worse so you should avoid them
-You also may need to take a drug called a diuretic which is prescribed
-Compression stockings can keep pressure on the swollen area to stop fluid from building up
