How Can Pain On The Shoulder Blades And Neck Be Treated?

Left shoulder back blade pain and top of shoulder going up left side of neck . Left arm from elbow up sore and also cant lift my arm more than straight out . I can use my right arm to lift up my arm higher . Very weak when trying to use it to carry something . Hade a massage today hoping to release the pain thinking it might be knotted up and pressing on a nerve . Still can’t lift arm up ant further sore from massage hoping it will b better in a few days . Thought this was advice not something I hade to pay for , forget it !

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain at the shoulder blades may be due to muscle spasm, spondylosis with radiculopathy, fibromuscular or rheumatoid arthritis etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Pain during lifting of arm above the head may be due to axillary nerve injury or supraspinatus bursitis.

Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
