How Can Pain In The Thumbs Be Treated?

Hello...For the last 4 days, my thumbs have been hurting and feel hot inside of them. I did not injure them that I know of! I do have RA in my right index and right middle finger. I am not on medication for RA. My right and left thumbs feel exactly the same with the pain level and hotness. Pain is on the top of my thumbs, going towards the wrist. Julie

Hi,

I am very sorry to hear that. I shall help you the best I can. You told me that you were diagnosed with RA but currently not on any medication. Your current symptoms might be related to RA which sometimes causes Raynaud's syndrome. Your symptoms somewhat overlap with symptoms of Raynaud's syndrome. Do you experience the same, especially when your hand is exposed to the cold?

I would highly recommend you to visit a rheumatologist at the earliest and start with medication which will definitely help by decreasing the progression of RA by preventing joint destruction and by delaying complications related to RA.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
