How Can Pain In The Shoulder And Hips Due An Injury Be Treated?
Dr. Tayal, Thank you for your help a few weeks ago. I fell on November 18 and hit my shoulder, side and left hip. You told me to ice and take advil. The pain got worse over the next week so I went to Urgent Care on 11/25 where they took X-rays. The diagnosis was a contusion of the shoulder, hip and a fractured rib #8. The pain has gotten better, however, the muscle from the left hip bone down thru my groin is very sensitive, sore and aches. I don t know if it is torn, or just bruised. Should I go and get a sonogram or MRI? My shoulder is also very sore with limited movement in certain directions. They said nothing was broken but there were signs of arthritis. What should I do? Thanks for your help.

Hi,
As the amount of pain is significant and not getting better amount of relief after conventional measures, an associated ligament tear must be suspected in and around the shoulder.
An MRI is strongly recommended for shoulder portion for best further management protocols as per the report. Rib fracture takes around 4-6 weeks for complete recovery and one has to be patience for that period of time.
