How Can Pain In The Jaws Be Treated?

I slipped and fell forward on the sidewalk. I fell/slid on my hands and when the rest of me came down my chin hit the sidewalk too. I put some ice on my chin/jaw area and took Aleave for pain. However, jaw hurts a bit when I chew something or grind my teeth

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain is expected with the fall described. In many cases, the pain starts or worsens 2 to 3 days after the trauma.

It can last for weeks. You should continue to use the aleve and consider a visit to your doctor to make sure that the trauma is only to the soft tissues and there is no bone involvement.
An x ray may be needed.

I hope this helps
