How Can Pain In The Ears Be Treated?

I fell riding a wave on my surfboard and came down left ear first. When I put pressure (by cupping my hand over my ear and pushing) there is a slight pain inside my ear. How long does something like take to heal... How long so I need to stay out of the water?

Hello,

A sudden blow to the ear can cause traumatic injury to the eardrum. At times the eardrum becomes inflamed, causing pain and fullness on-ear. At times there can be a slight perforation. If there is a pain in earthen to be on a safer side, you can consult an emergency room and get evaluated.

If there is inflammation or perforation, then antibiotic and analgesic eardrops can be advised. Stay away from water and loud noise. Avoid picking the ear as it can cause injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
