General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain related to soft tissue injury can last two to six weeks in some persons. The main aspects of treatment would include- P.R.I.C.E.M.M which stands for -
(1) Protection from further injury
(2) Rest to allow the area to heal
(3) Ice therapy- 2 to 3 times a week
(4) Compression and elevation would not apply here.
(5) M- medication like Naproxen or ibuprofen or Cataflam. The regular use of one of these anti-inflammatory medicines for 48 hours at least, would help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
