How Can Pain And Swelling In A Fractured Toe Be Treated?

Hi. I fractured and dislocated my 4th toe in mid September, and it is still swollen, which isn t the primary concern. It has been so painful that my gait has been altered and now I am having fairly severe pain up the entire length of my leg, including my hip. It is especially painful at night when I m trying to sleep. What do you think is going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for query.I understand your concern.
It seems your unhealed toe fracture &surrounding tissue is probably inflammed & infected...causing stress &strain to complete limb.
You should immediately consult an orthopedic doctor for examination & &management of problem.
Till then take rest.avoid moving the leg.Over thecounter pain medicine like Combiflam can give some relief from pain.

Thanks
