How Can Pain And Swelling Below The Tailbone Be Treated?

I went to the er today and I was diagnosed with celulitis brought on by MRSA. It is located just below my tail bone, top of my butt, between my butt cheeks. The doctor simply looked at it, and touched it, and said if was red tender, hard to the touch, and swollen. It s also very painful. He prescribed antibiotics every 6 hours for 7 days, but the pain is extreme. Is there anything I can do to diminish the pain? I am also 38 weeks pregnant. Please help, I can t sleep.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should follow the doctor's advice. Also, you can put cold compresses over it to reduce inflammation. Also, you can take acetaminophen to cope with pain. Doing certain stretching exercise can help relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
