How Can Pain And Numbness In The Legs Be Treated?

96 year old female well controled on Norco for sciatica for the past 3 years. Now having break through pain with numbness in legs. Neurontin prescribed. Concern is if neurontin can decrease effectiveness of the opiate, should it be prescribed or would it s indications for peripheral neuropathy make it a viable medication to add. Thank you.
