How Can Pain And Numbness In The Ankles Be Treated?

My sister broke her ankle on both sides of her ankle several weeks ago. Now she is experiencing pain, numbness, and tingling in her ankle. Is this normal? Would putting heat on her ankle help? She is having a hard time sleeping because of this problem.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As the issue is of several weeks duration, my clinical experience suggests healing problems here. Though putting heat pad can give some relief, it will not be curative.

Kindly consult her to the orthopedic surgeon, and get an X-ray for proper guidelines and detailed management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
