How Can One Treat Blood In Diarrhea And Abdominal Pain?
Hi, I have had abdominal pain in my lower abdomen for the last 5.5 hours. The first 3 hours I had constant diarrhea. Now the pain is still the same but I am unable to go to the bathroom. The last time I went to the bathroom I thought I was having more diarrhea, but when I looked the toilet was just filled with bright red liquid blood- nothing else. Any idea what could be the issue?
Lower abdominal pain along with red colored diarrhea is most probably indicative of an intestinal infection. Hence I would advise you the following: Send the stool and blood sample for lab tests. Take a PPI like Pantoprazole.
Drink plenty of oral fluids if there is no nausea or vomiting along with electrolyte solution to avoid dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation and examination.
Get a proper course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection.Add probiotics. Take antispasmodic for symptomatic relief. All these will help you to get a proper diagnosis and cure.
If the above measures fail to give you relief or cure take an opinion of a Gastroenterologist to have further evaluation, investigations and proper management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
