How Can Intestinal Gas And Upper Abdominal Pain Be Treated?
I am 30 and it s been for 4 months that I have sometimes feeling of gas trapped in foundus part of my stomach and feeling slight sharp (come and goes fast) pain near in the upper part of my stomach more like a heartburn. I started to have digestion problem when I was kid and still have it so I usually have sever bloating and intestine gas specially after I have beans, dals and chickpeas and lentils, etc. Now both stomach and intestines gas together making it worse for my daily life. Since I cannot remove legume foods from my diet in order to eat less meat, would you have any suggestions to remove the gas from my body by not making many changes to my diet? Thanks
To reduce gas due to vegetables and especially legumes you may use peppermint or camomile tea. Adding apple cider vinegar to food is found to help reduce gas.
As for drugs, simethicone and activated charcoal are found to be helpful. Beano is especially helpful with gas from legumes, so if the above measures are not helping enough you may try this.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
