How Can Insomnia Along With Constant Headaches And Nausea Be Treated?

I ve been prescribed Buspirone for anxiety and have been on it for 8 days. I cannot sleep, am restless, itch under my skin continuously, am dizzy and irritable. The dose I m taking is 7.5 mg in the morning and I have to take .25 mg of lorazepam to calm my body. I have been on SSRI s for over 10 years (Celexa, Lexapro, and Lexapro generics) and have recently reacted with swelling of hands, legs, feet, and face so discontinued. I think the most recent generic gave me the reaction. The pharmacies keep changing generics and I may be reacting to the inert compounds - not sure. Tried Trintellex for 18 days and had constant headaches and nausea. Not sleeping and wondering what to do.

Hi,

Buspirone effect may take some time to come, up to 4-6 weeks. So it's still early to judge whether it's effective in your case or not, I would continue it.

In the meanwhile, lorazepam may be temporarily used, but only temporarily hoping Buspirone will gradually come into play.

As you might know, Benzodiazepines like Lorazepam are not to be used for a long time due to the potential for dependence and tolerance.

If Buspirone is not effective then I am afraid an antidepressant is necessary, either a non-generic version of the ones you've used or a different class altogether like Amitriptyline.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
