How Can Hot Flashes And Terrible Insomnia Be Treated?

Hello. I’m a 44 year old woman experiencing menopausal symptoms. Hot flashes, and insomnia. While the hot flashes are no fun, the insomnia is terrible. I have tried otc sleep aids, Herbal remedies etc and nothing helps. My bed time are wake time are consistent every day. I just am not tired when I should be sleeping. What do I do? I’ve heard bad things about prescription sleep aids but somethings got to give. Thank you so much.

. Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods which can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines. You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active. It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week-and to try to avoid taking naps during the day. Prescription sleep medicines amy also help and include diazepam and similar medications.Melatonin is supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases special testing is needed.
