How Can High Fever Along With Diarrhea Be Treated?

I just returned from the Philippines for a short trip. On the trip home, I started running a high fever with chills. ALso had very loose bowels. After getting home, for the past 3 days, the fever has gone away, but my diarrhea continues to be terrible. At this point, I am on a liquid diet, because anything just runs through. It is like turning on a faucet ever time I go to the toilet. I have tried over the counter medicine and also mixes of water an Bragg s vinegar to help, but so far, nothing helps. Suggestions?

Hello,

It looks like your oral medicines are not working. However, take Lomotil (atropine & diphenoxylate) along with Pepto-Bismol (bismuth subsalicylate).

Before taking the medication, take 1-2 raw banana which is boiled & mashed with salt & boiled tapioca pearls in water with a little sugar.

It should work. Else, you need intravenous support , don't waste your time, visit ER. Stay well hydrated, take ORS & soups to maintain the Na, K balance. Stay at rest. Take Acetaminophen(Tylenol) for fever.

Exhaustion & fatigue causes fever. Visit ER & get examined & CBC, Urinalysis, Stool examination done to detect infection if any. Get evaluated, get treated.
