Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been suffering with high blood pressure for past 2 months (didn t notice it before so not sure if it was an issue pre this time). I attended my gp who kept telling me not to worry. I kept worrying as it was not going down, averaging at 150/100 and I insisted on getting a 24 hour monitor. It averaged 140/100 and he again didn t seem concerned. After another week of it not going down he finally put me on a 1/2 tablet but it had no effect. I returned last week again and he put me on a whole tablet and said to come back in 3 months. Since then my blood pressure is rising and it is now 183/108. I am worried. Can you advise what to do now. Thank you
Your blood pressure has been increased too much high extent.
Kindly mention you are taking which medication.
It's better to put you on Telmisartan and Amlodipine like combination antihypertensive agent.
The secondary cause for hypertension also needs to be ruled out in your case by urine VMA estimation, USG scan, sodium and potassium estimation, neurological and endocrine evaluation etc.
It's better to consult an endocrinologist for detailed evaluation and get prescription as mentioned after ruling out secondary cause if present.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Parth Goswami,
