Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a colonoscopy on June 28th of this year. Everything turned out good except the fact I have major hemmeroids. He said I may have to have surgery if none of the things he prescribed works. Well not only has none of the things working but since the colonoscopy , I have passed all kinds of blood! I did on occasion pass blood before the procedure, but nothing like now, very concerned !
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Surgery is the only curative treatment option for hemorrhoids. You can control the severity of the illness using medicines like laxative and supportive measures. If the symptoms are severe, better to go for surgery. Various surgical option are available and you can go for options like stapled hemorrhoidectomy which has got lower recurrence rate and post operative pain is also less compared to open procedure. Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
