How Can Heart Attack Chest Pain And Intercostal Gout Pain Be Differentiated?
I have been dealing with gout for a few years. Started in the big to on the right. Now effects hands and wrists. Lately I ve been having anterior rib pain on the left. I almost positive it s gout, but want to make sure it s not heart related. So my question is what does chest pain related a heart attack feel like compared to point tenderness of intercostal gout pain.
Cardiac Chest pain will be sharp ,associated with sweating, radiating to left shoulder.
you need to do stress test as soon as possible, if it suggests insufficiency then angiography may be required. You can do blood markers like TROP-T ,and CPK-MB. If all reports are normal then there can be nerve compression in spine ,so you may need MRI spine. Till time take cardio protective medication like beta blockers consulting your doctor and take complete bed rest.
Till time continue medication for gout and diet restriction. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
