How Can Hair Loss In A Child Be Treated?

My 4 yr old daughter is suffering from hair loss in the back of her head. Her primary care doctor says it looks like alopecia and we were referred to a dermatologist, but they can t see her for a couple more weeks. What can we use over the counter to help her until she has an appointment?
