How Can Gout Be Treated?

my husband had a gout flare up for the first time ever. he was prescribed colchicine .6mg. he was instructed to take two immediately and one every hour for 24 hours and then every hour for pain as needed. I am concern because this site states maximum dose 1.2 mg per day.

Kindly take the medication as suggested.
He needs to avoid intake of alcohol and non-vegetarian diet, as these would precipitate the symptoms of gout. He needs to keep well hydrated by consuming good quantities of water and. fluids.
