Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been throwing up for the past 17 days. I have been to the ER 3x which all my blood work, CT scan, X-ray have all come back normal. So they suggested to see a GI specialist to see as to why i have been sick and unable to keep any food down. I recently had an endoscopy done this past Friday. The findings were acute gastritis with hiatus hernia. I was prescribed 40mg of PPI. I’m on day 3 of the medicine and I’m still having trouble in keeping any little food that I eat, even if it’s just a banana. What else could be wrong? How long does the medicine work for it to help with my inflamed stomach??
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
After reading your post, I would suggest that you should continue with PPI prescribed by your doctor. You can add Domperidone along with it, after discussing with your treating doctor, for relief from your symptoms. Avoid spicy and oily foods. Drink lots of water daily.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
