How Can Fibromyalgia Be Treated?

Good afternoon Dr Rynne, I am currently on prednizone, and the Naproxen that I was on at the time I started the prednizone made me feel sick and disoriented when taking both together. So I stopped taking the Naproxen and continued on with the 15mg of prednizone. Three days later my fibromyalgia is killing me. My question to you is, if I incorporate 800mg of motrin for pain, will i get the same feeling of ickyness that I got from the Naproxen and Prednizone?

Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are several medications that you can take to cope with every day pain.
Some suggestion about the treatment are:
-You can continue using baclofen as for pain relief.
-Opioids such as Tramadol are not recommended for fibromyalgia. They don't work, and they may even make the pain worse.
-You can also use muscle muscle relaxants to treat the symptoms.

You should discuss with your doctor about these medications because they are on prescription.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
