How Can Fibromyalgia And Arthritis Be Treated?

I am currently taking oxycodone 7.5/325 4x day. I feel the need to increase to 5x a day as pain has increased. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, neuropathy etc. I also have cirrhosis of the liver. I have done some research and think oxycodone hcl 10 my would be better due to not Tylenol and costs way less, I am on Medicare. Would 10mg be the same as 7.5 of what I take now or should the dosage be more?

Hello,

Oxycodone/Acetaminophen (7.5 mg oxycodone HCl/500 mg acetaminophen)-standard dose for adults-1 tablet q 6 hr as needed.

Oxycodone-adult dose 10 to 30 mg q 4 hr as needed. All these are opioid-based. However, it should be emphasized strongly that opioid analgesics are to be avoided in patients with FM (fibromyalgia).

These agents have no demonstrated efficacy in FM and are associated with opioid-induced hyperalgesia that can worsen both symptoms and function.

Antidepressants: balanced serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors such as Amitryptiline, Duloxetine, Milnacipran and or anticonvulsants: ligands of the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels such as Gabapentin, Pregabalin are pharmacological agents effective in FM.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
