How Can Fatigue And Insomnia While Suffering From Gastritis Be Treated?

Hi, last November I had an endoscopy done and found that I had a slight case of Gastritis, no ulcers were found nor any bacteria that causes Gastritis. I was prescribed Nexium and other acid reducers as well as karifate, I know that s misspelled to be taken 3 times a day. Over the next few months my condition improved and I stopped taking the Karifate. After some time, my symptoms returned and I started taking the Karifate again. Over the last year I have taken the Karifate on and off when mild symptoms have persisted, however a few months ago I began to have bright red blood on the toilet tissue after a B movement. I have had a history of Hemorrhoids and acid reflux. However this was not a normal Hemorrhoid near the rectum. I had none of that. I started taking otc suppositories to stop the internal hemorrhoid and over the next few weeks it stopped and has not returned. That was over a month ago. However, I had diarrhea most of that time and figured it was due to the gastritis. But now the diarrhea is mostly gone however most B movements are still loose. Im still taking the Karifate due to the persistent gastritis and I ve stopped consuming alcohol at all. What s upsetting is the fatigue, and horrible sleep paterns, as well as this jittery feeling that persists . I m at my wits end.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

By your history and description, possibility of stress and anxiety related symptoms is more likely. Anxiety can also worsen acid reflux and gastritis. Your loose stool is mostly due to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and this is again caused by stress, anxiety. So better to consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution. You may need Anxiolytic drugs (Propranolol and Flunarizine combination) too. Librax is also good for IBS related loose stool. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
