How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Be Treated?

I am a 76 year old man that is overweight, 230 lbs, and have never had high BP. Recently had an annual physical and Dr said my BP was up and ask me to watch it at home. The last few days it has been about 171/95 with a Bpm of 60. Is this crisis and should I get back to my dr so or see if it goes down in a few days.
