How Can Ear Blockage Be Treated?

Hi, I recently blocked my ear due to using a q-tip, I used olive oil for a few days but did not see a difference so went to a ent doctor on Monday and he managed to take the wax out using microsuction, he said there was hard wax on the ear drum so he stopped as he didn t want to damage my ear drum, he advised I use olive oil to soften the wax, it s been 3 days since I had microsuction, can I go back to have the remaining wax out as i can still feel wax in my ear if it has softened?

Hi..

You can wait for 2 more days and keep putting olive oil for another 2 days to let it soften completely so that the removal close to eardrum becomes easier and there is no probability to damage the eardrum..

Also if this does not work you can get wax softening ear drops from nearby pharmacy and put it for 5 days..

I would also advise you not to try to remove the wax on your own as you can tend to push it deeper and even there can be a chance to damage the eardrum in an attempt to pull out the wax..

So it is better to consult an ENT Physician and get it done professionally..
