How Can Ear Ache And Hearing Loss Be Treated?

I have an ear infection and it got so bad it caused my ear drum to become perforated. I started oral antibiotics Tuesday!(it s late Saturday now) and my ear was getting better and suddenly it s gotten worse. I have I believe To be significant hearing loss and a good amount of pain in my ear and face around the ear. The doctor I saw said something about coming back in five days if it didn t get better but I can t completely remember what she said. Is it a bad sign that it s getting worse again?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an earlier infection.

I recommend you to continue the cycle of antibiotics.

I also recommend using antibiotic ear drops for local treatment.

I suggest taking anti-inflammatory medication to reduce pain and inflammation.

If the symptoms continue you should revisit your doctor.

Another cycle of antibiotics may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
