How Can Dryness On The Feet Be Treated?

Hello Dr. I have dry feet which gets layered with dead skin pretty often. I also get deep cuts on heals at well as feet. I went for a heel peel treatment at a salon. Though the dead skin is gone, the deep cuts have not become prominent, delicate and painful. One of the cut is also oozing out fluid. Please help.

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

It is likely that the cracks/fissures in your feet have infected
Be sure to keep the area clean and dry.Wash thoroughly with antiseptic soap and water. Apply mupirocin ointment and gauze dressing to fight off the infection. Change the dressing every 12 hours.
Keep your feet moisturized. If you are diabetic, make sure that blood sugar levels are well controlled. You can take Advil to relieve pain and inflammation.
Follow up with your doctor(especially if you are diabetic) to get started on oral antibiotics like clindamycin as risk of cellulitis and infection spreading is high in diabetic patients.
Once infection is controlled, make sure that you deride the dead skin by soaking in warm soap water and using a pumice stone .Moisturize your feet at least 3 times a day.Wear moisturized socks overnight. Wear comfortable shoes.

Hope this answers your questions
