Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Since last evening I ve had a horribly dry mouth and now a sore throat. The only thing I can think of that may have caused it is that I spent half an hour spraying bug repellant around the outside of my house. I wore a mask while doing that. Is it possible I inhaled the repellent?
Well, dry mouth can be due to inhalation of the bug repellent and it can also cause sore throat due to chemical irritation of the throat with the chemical present in the repellent..
Although you are wearing a mask but still some amount can be inhaled..
So my suggestion is to start doing warm saline gargles to soothe the mouth as well as throat.. To relieve the dry mouth you can start chewing sugar free chewing gum as it will also reduce soreness in throat as dryness can also irritate the throat. Also drink plenty of water and do steam inhalation.. Use a humidifier in your room as it will also reduce soreness and irritation..
If there is no improvement in 2-3 days or if it worsen consult an Emergency room..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
