Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been having an issue recently with strange flaky skin on my face. It s winter so my skin is a bit dry but I ve never had this before. It started exclusively around my mouth so I thought it was to do with my boyfriend s beard but it s started to develop over more of my face and neck. It presents as small enflamed areas almost like spots but when I rub them the skin comes straight away and they re raw and painful, within a few hours they ll scab over and look and feel horrible, the scabs are dry and often flake away themselves and I can t find a thing online that even looks similar. The spots around my mouth have started to clear up but I m developing more and I m not sure how to prevent them/how serious they are. Age: 18 Sex: Female Height: 5 4 Weight: Slim Race: Caucasian Duration of complaint: Around a week Location: United Kingdom
As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
