Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently (in May) had lung surgery for staff pneumonia. while there the dr. gave me loads of stool softeners And several pills, milk of mag & a homemade concoction of warm dr. pepper and prune juice. It gave me diareah for a long time. Also there was mucus/ mucous?? coming out. that has not stopped. the diareah stopped when I took over the counter help I cant remember the name I think it starts with M. I just had to check in the bathroom again because I thought it might be there (when I don t check it comes out in my underwear). I never had this before the cocktail. & it is still ongoing I am concerned, Sincerely Drew
Ok, drugs that increase gut motility and lubrication are gone the moment they pass out of the gut. On the other hand, changes in the gut germ content (generall due to antibiotic use) can persist a long time. It can also be quite dangerous and one germ Clostridium Dificile can cause gut gangrene and serious injury. It is a reason to get stool testing.
