How Can Dizziness Due To Inhalation Of Disinfectant Be Treated?

I seem to have had a strong reaction to a disinfectant used at my place of employment. It had a strong odor and surfaces were still wet with the product when I arrived to work. Within 2 or 3 minutes of exposure to the scent/fumes I began feeling nauseated. Then I started to feel woozy, lightheaded, weak, dizzy. I opened all the doors and windows, but these symptoms continued to worsen. I had to call in a relief person and wait outside in the fresh air until they arrived. I would return inside every 5 to 10 minutes to check on my resident and felt worse every time I did so. The resident and her housemate seemed unaffected by this smell, but it continued to cause me to feel very ill, nauseated, lightheaded, and weak. Being outside only helped minimally. I have had a similar but less severe reaction to diesel fumes in the past. What should I do? Can I go back into this environment tomorrow morning safely?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You seem to be suffering from allergic reactions to the strong smell. it’s not unnatural to be allergic to anything. many people tend to be allergic to a whole lot of things.

What I suggest is you can take antihistamine medication like tab. Allerid D early in the morning. It will help you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nahida Altaf, General & Family Physician
